There once was a clever, funny, mischievous girl named Monika who grew up in a small town in Poland. Monika loved to sew. In her spare time she made clothes for herself, her mother and her two beautiful sisters. To pursue her talent she studied sewing, pattern making and design at the Liceum Zawodowe school for sewing and design. The more clothes she made the more her reputation grew and soon Monika was known throughout the land as the amazing seamstress from Kolbuszowa.
At more or less the same time there was a clever, funny, mischievous girl named Callie who grew up in a small town in Australia. Callie loved to design. In her spare time she made clothes for herself, her mother and her two beautiful sisters. To pursue her talent she studied sewing, pattern making and design at The Royal Melbourne Institute of technology. Callie worked as a bridal designer and one day opened her own business called Modern Trousseau and soon Callie was known throughout the land as the amazing bridal designer from Melbourne.
In pursuit of fame, fortune and adventure both girls moved with their families to the United states and settled in Connecticut. This is where Callie started her bridal business again. She placed an add in the local paper looking for a talented seamstress to help her. Then one sunny spring day Monika knocked on her door an Callie knew her prayers had been answered. Over the next seventeen years Callie and Monika worked side by side making wonderful wedding gowns together. They laughed, they cried and they lived happily ever after.
Then one day Callie and Monika were sitting in their design studio, where one thing often leads to another, and they saw all the scraps of fabrics that were too small to make into a traditional wedding gown. What a waste of such beautiful fabric they thought, and then they had an idea. What if we made short white dresses for things like rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, bachelorette parties, engagement photos and the list goes on. They got to work and soon they had a fabulous collection of short white dresses which they also made in black for cocktail parties and other formal occasions
They created a website and called it, naturally, Callie&Monika. They are incredibly proud of what they have achieved and thankful to the many people who helped them get here. They love their dresses and hope you do too.
